One of my passions has and always will be photography. I started doing photography in high school which included using a manuel camera and developing, processing and printing black and white photos. I always found it to be such a gratifying and cathartic experience. Now, I’ll capture pictures using my iPhone 6 or my special baby, my Canon 7D. To say I’m active on Instagram would be an understatement. I absolutely love using different editing apps on my phone like VSCOCAM, Snapseed and Instasize to craft my own special perspective on my photos. I decided it would be cool if I displayed the photos of the week with their own background and stories (we’ll see how this goes).
I’ve been dying to check out Lil Woody’s for a while now. I heard how delicious their burgers were and being at the heart of Capitol Hill, they’re the perfect place to eat after a night out. The day I headed in, I lucked out as they were giving out free hand cut fries with their burgers. And to answer the question, yes it tasted as incredible as it looked! I highly recommend you check it out!
I had the wonderful pleasure to break fast with some great friends last week during Ramadan. I didn’t get the chance to fast with all my friends (and 1.5 billion people or so) but I was fortunate enough to be invited in to break their days fast. We had dates, sambusas, rice, steak, a crepe, and bananas to fulfill every last taste bud we had. Another great meal that made my week spectacular!
This was probably the most amazing surprise I’ve seen in a while. I had a couple of meetings in Capitol Hill and had some time to kill. I decided to take a stroll and stumbled upon these awesome rainbow crosswalks to celebrate LGBT Pride in Seattle. Furthermore, Capitol Hill has a strong LGBT community, so it was only right that these crosswalks were represented on these streets. They were decorated during Seattle Pride week but also right as the Supreme Court passed the law for same-sex marriages! What a beautiful thing to witness as a city embraces all of its citizens!
One thing to know about me is that I absolutely LOVE to take pictures of sunsets. I live right by the water (which I realized I will always need to live by a body of water) and it makes it easy to bare witness to the beautiful changes in the sky at sunset. What I love most is how the sunset will never look exactly the same but that the colors will change, or the patterns of the clouds will be different; a unique sunset for each day.
It was really hot this day but I needed caffeine to stay woke. I decided to warm up some classic black tea from Ethiopia called Addis Shai. I put a couple of ice cubes in it to cool it down, along with some white honey also from Ethiopia. It was the perfect concoction to keep me cool and awake.
This is pretty straightforward, I’m collecting all my pennies. Gotta pay for this lavish lifestyle somehow!
Being part of such an awesome collective (will explain more in-depth in another post) I’m able to meet with incredible people in college. I had never fully explored Bellevue College but was very fortunate to do so this past week. To be in spaces of intellect, creativity, and passion is inspirational. I love campuses that can evoke those aspects such as BC.
This had to have been one of the most amazing sunsets I’ve seen this summer! Right on my block I was able to take a quick stroll and capture these luscious colors. Don’t forget to be present to the beauty right in front of you.
Some Black Lychee sweet tea at this cool cafe. That’s it.
I love Sushi and my bestie and I love coming to Blue C simply because they serve their sushi on a train. It’s awesome.
Lastly, here’s a picture of me with my new haircut (that I gave myself). I will probably do a hair post in the future but for now this is my natural, natural hair which means its my wash-n-go look. I love it and I’ve maintained it healthily with some fab products. Again, elaboration soon to come!
Those are the pictures for the week. Stay tuned for more!
