Keeping my eye sharp in Ethiopia has posed to be more difficult than I thought. What I mean is, at times it can be overwhelming to capture everyday life here. Not that I’m doing amazing stuff all the time (only some of the time) but you get caught up in the habit of being present as opposed to always needing to document your experiences. And while I do enjoy writing my experiences, I want to show more visuals without a direct narration. More so, I enjoy capturing videos of the places I visit, putting a cool instrumental behind it and allowing for the viewer to develop their own interpretation of the images they see. I’ve started this series called “addis vision,” which translates to “new vision.” Just as a picture is worth a thousand words, I believe video has the power to connect those words together and send a powerful message. What that message is, I’m not sure. It can vary from person to person. If you’re eager to develop your own message from this series, check out the first two videos below. And if you have any commentary to share on what you’re seeing, leave a comment below!
